NCSO has been hosting tournaments since 1974. The tournaments are described as “rigorous academic interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of different hands-on, interactive, challenging and inquiry-based events that are well balanced between the various disciplines of biology, earth science, environmental science, chemistry, physics, engineering and technology.” Each source document for each event in this bank is presented in its entirety.

This bank is one of two Science Olympiads found on Problem-Attic, the other one is ATX. These Olympiads are meant to stimulate interest in various scientific disciplines through collegial competition, encourage participants to think of their futures beyond high school, and honor those students who demonstrate outstanding mastery of science.
